The poems shift from the familiar and recognisable to the unfamiliar and uncongenial in just a few words, and just as easily back again. It is Gangopadhyay’s metier.

My challenge lay in shifting the reader’s focus from the physical to the metaphysical journey and moving their cognition from visceral and visual to one that is markedly less so.
